Quad City Symphony Orchestra - Masterworks II

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of Veteran’s Day, we examine the emotional influence of war and conflict on the human experience, beginning with Barber’s gripping and emotional Adagio for Strings. Feel the power of human compassion when Paul Max Tipton performs John Adam’s melancholy and meditative The Wound-Dresser, inspired by Walt Whitman’s graphic and tender poem. Celebrate the perseverance of humanity in the face of adversity with Shostakovich’s victorious Symphony No. 7 “Leningrad.”

PROGRAM

BARBER Adagio for Strings
ADAMS The Wound-Dresser
SHOSTAKOVICH Symphony, No. 7 in C Op. 60, “Leningrad”
